Vélo Birmingham: 100 mile cycle for Cure Leukaemia

Local businessman aims to raise funds for cancer charity.

On Sunday 24th September Anish Chauhan, Managing Director of Equilibrium Security Services, will be cycling 100 miles for the blood cancer charity Cure Leukaemia. Anish will be joining 15,000 participants at Vélo Birmingham to take on a mammoth 100 mile cycle on completely closed roads. The route will take the cyclists from the city right through to the picturesque Staffordshire and Worcestershire countryside.

Cure Leukaemia is a blood cancer charity which was established in 2003. The charity’s aim was to allow patients with blood cancer in the Midlands to access effective new treatments. They are now leading the way internationally in the fight against the disease.

This year Cure Leukaemia have launched a £1m appeal to raise funds towards a new £3.2 million clinical haematology centre in Birmingham. This new centre has the chance to double the world class facility’s ability to treat patients, carry out clinical trials and fund specialist research, in addition to allowing stem cell transplants to be performed as an outpatient for the first time.
