Wanted – not just a pretty face

Contestants wanted for Mr & Miss England.

The 2017 national finals of Miss & Mr England will be held at Resorts World in Birmingham between 12-14th July 2017.

Britain’s biggest competition to find the nations representative for Miss & Mr World, stages over 70 heats across the country and is holding its grand final at the leisure destination located at the NEC in Birmingham.

Previous destination hosts in the last five years have included seaside locations Torquay and Southport with both councils supporting the contest, which raised over £55k for charity at each event.

Organisers have chosen LoveBrum as a recipient for funds raised at this year’s final.

Resorts World Birmingham, as the UK’s leading leisure and entertainment resort, is delighted to be hosting this year’s events. The Miss and Mr England competitions are well established and popular events and being able to host the contestants and organisers of the event is something the resort is looking forward to.

National director and organizer, Angie Beasley, said “The NEC in Birmingham is such a central location for our contestants and heat organisers to get to. The finalists are going to love Resorts World Birmingham and all it has to offer!”

Doctor Carina Tyrrell Miss England 2014, who was a recent judge at the Miss World final in Washington DC (pictured), said “I was invited to stay at Resorts World Birmingham for the Clothes Show Live. It has everything under one roof; outlet shopping, restaurants, a cinema and the Santai Spa & Genting International Casino. A perfect location for the final – the girls definitely will not want to leave! I was lucky enough to sample the spa and stay in one of the beautiful rooms at the Genting Hotel with Natasha Hemmings , Miss England 2015 “

Natasha said, “We both loved the resort. I cannot wait to come back next July and be a judge at the event!”

The competition is being held over a three-day period from 12th–14th July. Contestants will be invited to take part in a series of challenging rounds including a tough sports round run by the current Mr England, Chris Bramell, who placed fourth in Mr World, a talent contest and an eco fashion show, where contestants create an outfit made from recycled materials as part of the competition.

Visitors to the shopping outlet will be treated to the Eco fashion show to see the recycled outfits created by the contestants themselves one of the official rounds in the contest.

In the lead up to the 2017 final, the contestants will also be raising awareness for Beauty with a Purpose, the global charity run by Miss World that has raised in excess of £1billion for disadvantaged children throughout the world and host charity, LoveBrum, which engages with local people and businesses to build an even better Birmingham.

Tim Andrews, Co-Founder and Chairman of LoveBrum will be one of the judges at the event: “Birmingham is, without a doubt, the place to be right now and a national event like Miss & Mr England coming to the city is testament to that. I am delighted that they are not only helping promote how great our city is but also helping to rasie money for LoveBrum; every penny of which will go to the projects that we help each and every month. Added to that, it’s being held at Resorts World Birmingham, one of our Patrons and a fantastic asset to the city.”

Tim added: “It’s also a personal highlight to be asked to judge – I can’t wait to be part of it!”
