There’s a lot of family fun coming to the Bromsgrove arts centre.
Since his departure from Steeleye Span, legendary fiddle player Peter Knight has turned his full attention to his trio Gigspanner. The group have now firmly established themselves as one of the most innovative acts on the folk/roots scene. Their ability to dismantle and reassemble traditional music in an imaginative way is both refreshing and impressive.
On 23rd November at Artrix, Peter will be joined by Roger Flack on guitar and Vincent Salzfaas on percussion, both talented musicians in their own right. Tickets cost £17
Artrixis inviting parents to bring their babies (aged 0-2) along to a special screening of Bridget Jones’s Baby on 23rd November. The comedy film continues the story of the hapless Bridget who has broken up with Mark Darcy only to find herself pregnant.
For this screening, the lights will not be all the way down and there will be space for pushchairs inside the auditorium. Nappy changing facilities are available on the ground floor and there are bottle warming facilities on site. Parents are invited to come along before the film and take advantage of the café and soft play facilities in the foyer. The screening is only available for parents/guardians and their babies.

There’s plenty of festive fun lined up for families at Artrix. Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without The Nutcracker and there will be two screenings on the 8th and 11th December. The Royal Ballet celebrates choreographer Peter Wright’s 90th birthday with his much-loved production of this beautiful classical ballet, danced to Tchaikovsky’s magnificent score.
The Sheriff of Nottingham is busy dusting off his baddy outfit in preparation for this year’s panto which is Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood. The All & Sundry production will have plenty of action, dancing and audience participation.
Oolik is an ordinary girl who goes on an extraordinary journey. She can’t understand why her igloo is melting so she travels through snowstorms and across oceans to find out the answer. Bone Ensemble present Where’s My Igloo Gone? a charming family theatre production for children aged 5 + and their families. This show is accessible to hearing, deaf and non-English speaking audiences.
On 19th December families can visit the Artrix café for some fabulous glittery make and take craft activities. There will be a strong chance of mince pies. This session is ideal for ages 4-11 and children aged 0-3 will be able to enjoy the Soft Play area. Following the morning session there will be an afternoon screening of Happy Feet in the Artrix Cinema.
On Christmas Eve you can join Fairy Flossy and Pompom the Penguin as they meet Father Christmas at his home in the North Pole. Santa Saves Christmas is a festive interactive show followed by a meet and greet with Santa himself. An unmissable treat for all the family!
After Christmas you can take to your saddles and strap on your mask for a roller coaster ride with laughs, songs and a handful of chillies. In Zorro’s Christmas Adventure on 29th December, Santa crash lands on the sands of Mexico but Zorro is there to help him out. Little English Theatre presents this fast fun and furious show which is ideal for little adventurers and their families.
