Midlands focus for China’s biggest investment conference

Emphasis on Midlands Engine projects.

The largest conference matching Chinese investment with British projects will open its doors in a month’s time, with a key focus on projects in the Midlands Engine. As new figures show the Chinese economy remains the single largest contributor to world GDP growth, 100 live UK projects will be showcased to investors including 30 in the Midlands region.

The one day conference run by the China-Britain Business Council will present over 100 live UK opportunities to private investors. The China Outbound Conference will be held at the Mandarin Oriental in Shanghai on 3rd November and is supported by the Department for International Trade, Midlands Engine and Invest Northern Ireland, amongst others.

Over the next 15 years the UK government plan to generate an additional £34 billion for the Midlands economy and between 2011 and 2015 there were no fewer than 880 foreign direct investment projects in the region.
