Theatre helps cancer charity

New Alexandra Theatre to take part in the world’s biggest coffee morning.

Birmingham’s New Alexandra Theatre will be supporting Cancer Research next week, as the venue takes part in a nationwide fundraising event.

Staff at the theatre will be channelling their inner Mary Berry as they bake cakes and treats for Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday 30 September.

The event will be hosted in the Piano Bar of the theatre, from 10am to 3pm, and everyone is welcome. It won’t just be a sweet treat that guests will be enjoying either. Local musicians will also be performing throughout the day as guests relax with a cake and coffee.

Boldmere Cakes will be kindly donating a Little Shop of Horrors themed cake especially for the event, as the cult show graces the stage of the theatre from Tuesday 27nd September to Saturday 1st October.

Visitors will even have the chance to win the specially created cake in a raffle, along with two tickets for the show on Saturday 1 October.

Lisa Mart, Acting General Manager of the New Alexandra Theatre said: “We all have, or know someone, who has been affected by cancer, so we are honoured to be able to help raise money for Macmillan Cancer Research.

“I would encourage everyone to pop in to our Piano Bar for a cuppa next Friday, and help make the day a success.”

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event for people facing cancer. Every year people all over the UK host their own Coffee Mornings and donations on the day are made to Macmillan. Last year alone £25 million was raised.
