Birmingham businesses get broadband boost

Trade Park companies to access new technologies.

More than 100 businesses at Minworth Trade Park in Sutton Coldfield are set to benefit from superfast broadband installed at the site by national internet service provider, WarwickNet.

By building four cabinets across the site, businesses will gain much-needed access to FTTC, FTTP, Physical Infrastructure Access and Sub-Loop-Unbundling – technologies which will allow them to reach download speeds of up to 1 Gbit/s.

Mark Hitchcock, senior business development manager at WarwickNet, said: “The broadband capabilities a business requires will differ greatly based on a number of different factors – that’s why it’s important to offer a range of options which can be tailored to suit individual needs.

“What all businesses have in common however, is the need for increased broadband speeds across the board. Several organisations have reported poor connections and slow speeds which leave them struggling to carry out their day to day activity without issue.

“We hope to provide a suitable solution for everyone, whatever the budget, and look forward to connecting our first customers at Minworth Trade Park in the coming weeks.”

Minworth Trade Park will be the first site in Sutton Coldfield connected by WarwickNet, a national provider based in nearby Coventry which specialises in bringing business-grade broadband to business parks and out-of-town areas.

Raj Mack, head of Digital Birmingham, added: “For the last 10 years, we at Digital Birmingham have worked to ensure that our city is at the forefront of ICT innovation. We recognise that affordable ultrafast internet connectivity is essential for the future growth and competitiveness of our businesses and we really welcome this investment”

“We’re grateful to WarwickNet for their support in ensuring that no business – no matter where they are located – is left behind when it comes to accessing technology which will enable growth.”
