Birmingham building company aims to encourage new designs

£10,000 could be up for grabs to Birmingham DIY inventors.

Birmingham timber and builders merchant Travis Perkins is inviting budding Birmingham inventors of any age to share their innovative construction or DIY product ideas by the 30th June.

The Travis Perkins Innovation Awards, organised by the Innovate team at Travis Perkins plc, has been launched for the first time this year. Successful entrants could be offered up to £10,000 of funding or a product trial at the FTSE100 distributor’s network of Travis Perkins branches.

Kevin McKeown, Branch Manager at Travis Perkins Birmingham Central, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for absolutely anyone to develop a new business, and could even see their product idea on the shelves of Travis Perkins branches like ours in Birmingham. It would be fantastic to have a winner from Birmingham, so I can’t urge our community to get involved enough.”

The closing date for entries to the first ever TPIA is 30th June 2016. Entries can be simple sketches to detailed proposals and is open to everyone. .
