Birmingham Law Society supports Midlands Air Ambulance

Legal group to rase funds for Air Ambulance.

President of the Birmingham Law Society, John Hughes, has selected Midlands Air Ambulance Charity as his charity of choice for 2016/17.

To support Midlands Air Ambulance Charity’s Air25 25th anniversary year, Mr Hughes will encourage Society members to help fund 25 lifesaving air ambulance missions throughout his term.

Each mission costs the charity £2,500, which is solely funded by generous donations from the public and businesses. It is expected £62,500 will be raised for the organisation through various fundraising campaigns, including a Bear Grylls’ Survival Academy expedition in Africa.

Banking solicitor and consultant at Shakespeare Martineau, Mr Hughes said: “It is hard to believe such a vitally important emergency service is entirely funded through charitable donations, which is why I am passionate about supporting this good cause.

“As a society we will promote an element of fundraising at our own events throughout the year, I will be walking 140 miles from Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London to Stratford, and we will encourage our more adventurous members to take on a number of the charity’s more daring challenges.”

Jon Cottrell, corporate partnerships co-ordinator for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, added: “We are very appreciative to John and the Birmingham Law Society for selecting our organisation as charity of choice.

“With 4,500 Society members, the support will help to highlight our charitable status to a wider audience, and will significantly assist air ambulance operations in the region.”
