Best of British theme to attract cinema buffs.
As St. George’s Day approaches, the people of Birmingham are being invited to vote for their favourite British film to be shown as part of the outdoor Film Festival, which returns to Brindleyplace this summer.
Celebrating the Best of British, the fifth annual Film Festival will take place between 12th and 21st July in Central Square at Brindleyplace and is free for all to attend. In 2015, the Film Festival helped to attract more than 94,000 visitors to the estate during the fortnight of the event, making it the most successful year to date, with numbers expected to rise again this year.
Alex Perrins, Marketing Executive at Brindleyplace, said: “The Brindleyplace Film Festival has become one of our most popular and most anticipated events, and come rain or shine it always attracts a crowd – what could be more British than watching a movie alfresco? With that in mind, this year we’ll be celebrating the best of British film, with over 50 classic titles making the shortlist, including a selection of BAFTA winners.
“Putting the film choices into the hands of the public means there’s guaranteed to be something for everyone. Be that a spoonful of sugar in the form of Mary Poppins, a classic rom-com, or of course James Bond, the nation’s favourite spy, with both Skyfall and Spectre making the shortlist. If you want to make sure your favourite British film gets a screening – don’t forget to vote!”
The films with the most votes will be shown during the Film Festival, as well as any additional films that receive multiple nominations*. *While most of the films are family-friendly, people are encouraged to check the timetable of films and their certificates before heading to the Film Festival this summer, so as not to be disappointed.
