Cadbury World creates giant egg for NEC fair

Cadbury aim to show potential apprentices how to taste success.

Talented chocolatiers from Cadbury World have created a giant chocolate egg sculpture, celebrating the science behind chocolate for National Apprenticeship Week.

Standing at an impressive three foot tall and weighing almost 60kg, the show-stopping chocolate creation will be on display at this year’s Big Bang Fair, as part of Mondelēz International’s podium with the Food and Drink Federation’s Taste Success stand.

Taking place from 16th–19th March at the NEC, The Big Bang Fair aims to get young people interested in the variety of exciting and rewarding career opportunities available in science and engineering. The fair also coincides with National Apprenticeship Week, which is designed to celebrate apprenticeships and the positive impact they have on businesses and the wider economy.

The giant egg is themed ‘inside the factory gates’, featuring a 3D production line made entirely from chocolate, as well as an outer shell decorated with cocoa pods and bronze lustre to reflect the day to day engineering behind the making of chocolate. Created using the equivalent of 1,333 bars of chocolate and incorporating both Cadbury Dairy Milk and Cadbury white chocolate, the striking creation took the on-site chocolatiers two days to make.

Diane Mitchell, marketing manager at Cadbury World, said: “Our giant egg is designed to showcase the exciting range of careers available within the food and drink industry, in a way that captures the imagination of young people. We are thrilled to return to the Big Bang Fair this year to help promote career opportunities within science and engineering, and look forward to showcasing the egg back at Cadbury World in the coming weeks too.”

Members of the Cadbury World education team will be at the fair to showcase a range of engaging educational talks to support the national curriculum. With topics including science, ICT and design & food technology, Cadbury World is the perfect destination to inspire the next generation of food and drink engineers, with the giant egg returning to the attraction for display from 22nd March 2016.

Tim Rycroft, Director of Corporate Affairs at the Food and Drink Federation, said: “We’re delighted to have Mondelez International joining us once again on our Taste Success stand at the Big Bang Fair, and we’re particularly excited to welcome its bespoke giant egg which will no doubt be a show-stopping attraction.

“Displays such as these perfectly capture the creative, fun, delicious and highly skilled aspects of food and drink careers while showing that there really are no limits to opportunities in our great sector.”
