Landmark for Snowman cast member

Hannah works her way to a thousand dances.

Professional dancer Hannah Flynn celebrated her 1,000th performance in the much-loved stage show of The Snowman on Friday, January 22nd at Birmingham Repertory Theatre.

Hannah, who joined the cast in 2006, has been a regular member of the company for a record ten consecutive seasons dancing the roles of Scotty Snowman, Badger and Reindeer. It was her first job after leaving college and Hannah got the part after being called in as an emergency replacement, learning the show in just one day. She’s never looked back since and is thrilled to be celebrating a landmark moment:

“The Snowman is an iconic part of everyone’s childhood and re-capturing the magic on stage year after year brings together such a talented team of creatives, cast, management and crew.”
said Hannah from Scarborough, “It’s a privilege to have been part of the show for the past 10 years and even after 1000 performances I still get goose bumps every time the Snowman and the Boy take off to Walking in the Air.”

Created by Birmingham Repertory Theatre 23 years ago, The Snowman has been delighting young and old alike for over two decades with its wonderful mix of storytelling, spectacle and magic. The show is currently at Birmingham Repertory Theatre following a successful 18th festive year in London’s West End.

Based on Raymond Briggs’ book and featuring Howard Blake’s much-loved score, The Rep’s production has been seen by over half a million people since it first came to the stage.

Director Bill Alexander said: “Very few actors or dancers can lay claim to performing the same role for 10 consecutive seasons let alone for 1000 performances and Hannah is a really dedicated member of The Snowman company. It may be her 1000th performance in The Snowman, but for most in the audience it will be their first time seeing the show and Hannah has always performed with an integrity and enthusiasm. We hope she’ll be Walking In the Air with us for many years to come!”

The cast and crew toasted Hannah’s landmark moment with a special snowy curtain call on Friday evening where she was presented with a bouquet of flowers.
