Planning submitted for new homes on former industrial site.
Multi award-winning housebuilder, St. Modwen Homes, has submitted a planning application for its second housing development in Longbridge, near Birmingham.
The application is for the first 41 homes of St. Modwen Homes’ new development which will be located off Groveley Lane on the edge of Cofton Hackett.
If approved, these homes will continue St. Modwen’s regeneration of Longbridge East; formerly known as East Works (part of the MG Rover plant) and utilised for engine manufacturing and assembly.
Robin Smith, Technical Director for St. Modwen Homes, said: “This new development will have a softer and more green feel than the previous housing schemes that have been delivered in Longbridge.
“It will comprise a range of three, four and five bedroom house designs, including terraces, detached and semi-detached properties. We’ve worked closely with our architects, RPS, to ensure each house type has been designed to be sympathetic to the local area, including red brick exteriors and feature bay windows whilst benefitting from contemporary touches such as balconies on some of the houses. What’s more, the homes will front onto the new Arrow Park, offering picturesque views for the new homeowners.”
The new homes will follow St. Modwen Homes’ hugely successful Park View development, located on Lowhill Lane, and will complement those currently being delivered in a joint venture between St. Modwen and Persimmon at Cofton Fields.
Robin said: “Located just a 20 minute train ride from Birmingham city centre and with a great selection of shops, restaurants and businesses now located in the town centre, Longbridge is increasingly becoming a top choice for people looking for a new home in the area and these new properties will help meet this growing demand.”
If approved, St. Modwen Homes aims to start construction early next year, with the first home due to be delivered in the summer. This first phase of the development will include 14 affordable properties.
