World War One for Mockingbird Theatre

Exciting new short plays during Remembrance Week at the Custard Factory.

Intrigue, excitement and heartbreak are entwined in a new World War One show Home Fires Burning at the Mockingbird Theatre in the Custard Factory, Birmingham during Remembrance Week.

Set in 1915, this brand new series of short plays penned by local writers from Big Script and performed by local actors, explores the impact of the Great War on family life, women’s rights and even on scientific research. Why did the suffragettes find themselves recruiting for the army? Who tried to stop scientists unleashing poison gas in the trenches? And how did people cope with traumatised soldiers and the loss of loved ones in a foreign land?

Performances areon Saturday November 7th 2.30pm and 7.30pm, then Wednesday 11th–Friday 13th 7.30pm.
