Rubber Soul Rebound

Rock legend Trevor Burton of The Move fame, Fuzzbox’s ViX & Her MsChiefs and Boat to Row’s Michael King have ‘Come Together’ with many more great Birmingham musicians to record a new CD version of The Beatles’ classic album Rubber Soul at Kings Heath’s iconic Highbury Studio.

Rubber Soul Rebound is to be released on 3rf December 2015 – exactly 50 years after the original. Bob Prew and Ken Whittaker, joint organisers of the King’s Heath Walk of Fame who are backing the release, said “Rubber Soul Rebound will be a strictly limited edition CD with only 500 copies being pressed. It will make a great Christmas present for all music lovers and is guaranteed to become a real collector’s item in years to come. We would urge fans to order their copies now to avoid disappointment”

Copies of the album can be ordered online at www.kingsheathwalkoffame.bandcamp.com/album/rubber-soul-rebound

Other musicians featured on the 14 track CD are Abi Budgen, Goodall, Sylvia, David Garside, Peters & Dog, Acoustica, Hannah Brown, Tim Walkerdine, Eleanor Dattani and The Eggmen. The CD will end with an ensemble version of Run For Your Life featuring all of the musicians singing and playing together as The Rubber Band.

All the money raised will go to support the local charity’s continuing efforts to promote the area’s musical heritage including that of the old Ritz Ballroom on York Road where The Beatles made their Birmingham debut.

To create a truely authentic sound the CD has been recorded at King’s Heath’s analogue Highbury recording studio where UB40, Duran Duran and Ocean Colour Scene made some of their earliest recordings. It will be officially launched as part of the Walk Of Fame’s Christmas Party on the afternoon of Sunday 6th December at Fletchers Bar on King’s Heath’s York Road opposite the burnt down ruins of the old Ritz Ballroom. Tickets for this event cost £4 in advance from the Kitchen Garden Cafe or £5 on the door.
