TV presenter signs on for run

Good Morning Britain reporter to tackle Great Birmingham Run.

Good Morning Britain news reporter and former ITV Central News co-host, Philippa Tomson has signed up to take on the Morrisons Great Birmingham Run on Sunday 18th October.

It will be a sixth half marathon for Philippa, who has already completed this year’s Morrisons Great North Run.

She said: “I’m delighted to be coming home for the Great Birmingham Run, having lived and worked in this great city for many years. I’m sure the atmosphere will be amazing and I intend to enjoy every minute of my feet pounding those pavements.”

Born in York, Philippa trained as a reporter on the Midlands-based Express & Star newspaper at the age of 18. After her working her way up to chief reporter, she embarked on a broadcasting career.

In 2002, Philippa joined ITV Central in Birmingham, working as producer, reporter and presenter, regularly co-hosting the 6pm main programme with long-standing anchor Bob Warman.

In 2006, she was asked to co-present ITV’s North East Tonight and Border’s Lookaround. She was honoured with two Presenter of the Year awards from the Royal Television Society, in 2010 and 2012.
