Coming up at Artrix

The usual mix of events at the Artrix centre in Bromsgrove.

Kenneth MacMillan’s poignant setting of Prokofiev’s classic score draws out the emotional and psychological intensity of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.

In a Royal Ballet production which is being screened live at Artrix on 22nd September, the story is set against an incredibly realistic evocation of 16th century Verona. Three wonderfully passionate pas de deux combine with a number of action scenes including a bustling marketplace that erupts into a violent sword fight and a lavish ball.

Royal Ballet Live presents Romeo and Juliet at Artrix on Tuesday 22nd September at 7.15 pm. Tickets cost £15.00 (£12 students)

A celebrated virtuoso of the Flamenco guitar, Juan Martin has been voted one of the top three guitarists in the world (US magazine Guitar Player). When Lindisfarne exploded onto the scene in 1970 they became the standard bearers for acoustic based rock music. Their sparkling song-writing, which spawned a string of memorable hits including Meet Me On the Corner, Fog on the Tyne and Band on the Run resulted in international success for the Tyneside group.

During their show at Artrix on Sunday 27th September, former band members Billy Mitchell and Ray Laidlaw tell The Lindisfarne Story from the very beginning. Together they will be performing acoustic versions of the classic songs and reliving moments from the band’s history as they share behind the scenes stories.
