Further airline expansion announced

Services to Warsaw and Budapest from Birmingham starting in September.

Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, today announced direct flights from Birmingham to Warsaw and Budapest. Both routes will be operated from mid-September with two flights per week.

The services to Birmingham, WIZZ’s 8th UK airport, will operate from Warsaw on Mondays and Fridays, and from Budapest on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Seats on these routes are on sale from today and can be booked on wizzair.com from £15.49 one way.

“We are thrilled today to be adding another airport to Wizz Air’s diverse UK network. This will give consumers in the West Midlands the opportunity to explore two of the largest capital cities in CEE, both renowned to offer excellent value to travelers”, said Wizz Air spokesman Daniel de Carvalho. “Birmingham will be Wizz Air’s 8th airport in the UK and we hope our first two services to Hungary and Poland will stimulate tourism and hospitality sectors as well as strengthen business relations between the three countries.”

William Pearson, aviation director at Birmingham Airport, added: “We’re delighted to welcome Wizz Air to Birmingham Airport and the start of twice weekly flights to Warsaw and Budapest in September. Both cities, known for their rich history and distinctive architecture, will prove to be a big draw for passengers who are looking to book a short city break. We expect these new services to be popular with business travellers too, due to the twice weekly frequency.”
