Big Yellow record breaker

City charity celebrates record fundraiser.

Big Yellow Friday, the national awareness and fundraising day for Birmingham based Children’s Liver Disease Foundation (CLDF) has raised a record £102,412 this year, beating last year’s total by over £18,000.

This year’s event, which took place on March 6, saw businesses, schools, community groups and individuals around the country wearing yellow, eating yellow and taking part in yellow themed activities to raise funds to fight childhood liver disease. Hundreds of events took place up and down the country ranging from bucket collections to bingo and cake sales to comedy nights.

“We have been particularly pleased with the support we have received from local businesses this year,” commented CLDF Chief Executive, Alison Taylor. “From sponsored cycles to yellow themed bake sales, we have found that companies have enjoyed the opportunity of having some fun while raising much needed funds for a locally based charity.

“We set ourselves an ambitious £100,000 target this year and we are delighted to have beaten it. The money raised will enable us to ensure that we are there for those families who receive that shattering diagnosis of liver disease in their child – in the Midlands and throughout the UK. “
