Trouble in Paradise

City centre visitors reminded of travel restrictions.

Motorists are being advised to plan ahead and avoid temporary road closures and restrictions due to come into operation in Birmingham city centre.

From Saturday (January 10th), the section of Summer Row between Lionel Street and Great Charles Street will be temporarily closed to all vehicles. A local diversion route will be signed and in place. Also from the same day, all parking on Summer Row will be suspended.

The road restrictions are being put in place to enable the first phase of the £500 million Paradise development including the demolition of existing buildings on the site. Further road access changes involving traffic using Parade/Sand Pits and Broad Street will be introduced later in January.

Birmingham City Council is advising motorists to expect significant disruption and to plan their journey carefully. Public transport, cycling or walking should be considered as the best alternative options.
