Coming up at Artrix

Theatre on film is the way to go.

Screenings from the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre are amongst the theatrical highlights at Artrix in February.

John is the latest National Theatre production by the internationally renowned DV8 Physical Theatre. Lloyd Newson, DV8’s Artistic Director, interviewed more than 50 men before he found John. What emerged is a story both extraordinary and touching. Years of crime, drug use and struggling to survive lead John on a search in which his life converges with others, in an unexpected place, unknown by most.

Summer 1914. In order to dedicate themselves to a life of study, the King and his friends take an oath to avoid the company of women for three years. No sooner have they made their pledge than the Princess of France and her ladies-in-waiting arrive, presenting them with a severe test of resolve. Love’s Labour’s Lost showcases Shakespeare’s sparkling comedy writing at its best. He champions love and then unravels an unrealistic vow, mischievously suggesting that the study of the opposite sex is in fact the highest of all academic endeavours.

John (NT Live Encore) is screening on Sunday 1st February at 8.00 pm and tickets cost £15 (£12 students). RSC Live presents Love’s Labour’s Lost on Wednesday 11th February at 7.00 pm and tickets cost £14 (£12 students and under 16s). Tickets are available from the box office on 01527 577330 or at www.artrix.co.uk
