On a Mission

Hannah Noble of Birmingham City Mission writes about their Harvest Appeal.

Tins and packets of food from your Harvest Festival or collection would be most welcome in Birmingham City Mission’s work with the homeless, elderly and those most in need in our city.

For many it is hard to imagine not being able to afford to feed ourselves and our families, but this is the reality for a growing number of people in the UK and in Birmingham. In the past year the BCM food bank has given out just over 2,000 parcels of food, an average of 167 each month to a total of 1,026 people struggling to make ends meet and find the money to pay increasing food costs. We allow each person six parcels each year, every two months, but would like to have enough food to give everyone who needs it a monthly parcel.

If you hold a collection at your church, workplace, school or club, please bring the food along to the Resource Centre at 8-10 Washington Street, Mondays to Thursdays in October, 10am – 4pm.

Thank you to all who donate goods this Harvest. It is with your help that Birmingham City Mission can continue to provide for individuals and families in poverty.
