Bournville employees buy kitchen appliances for local hospital

Help for relatives from Mondelēz workers.

A team of employees from Mondelēz International has donated almost £1,000 to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity in the form of a new cooker and fridge for the hospital’s relative wing.

Having adopted the hospital charity as one of their official charities, the team from sales support has been fundraising on the hospital’s behalf for the past several months. In addition to this, colleagues from manufacturing also donated towards the new equipment.

Elizabeth Watson, Central Support Sales Executive at Mondelēz International, said: “I recently took part in a sponsored walk on behalf of the hospital’s relative wing, Nuffield House. I was able to raise more than £1,000 for the QEHB Charity and was thrilled to help provide the appliances for the accommodation, where I stayed when my father was being treated for cancer.”

The money raised by Elizabeth was then matched by the Mondelēz International Cash Match initiative, which allows employees to secure additional donations for charities they are passionate about.

Sian Averill, Fundraising Assistant at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity, added: “We’re extremely grateful to Mondelēz International for donating these essential items which will go towards helping families feel a little more at home while they’re staying the hospital’s accommodation.”

The recent donation follows a volunteer day held in October which saw Mondelēz International employees rejuvenate the communal areas and bedrooms within Nuffield House.
