New gig in town

If you’re short of ideas on where to go this weekend, read on…

After far too long prevaricating about the idea, my friend Mark Skirving (better known as KP from long-time local band King Pleasure & the Biscuit Boys) and I have decided to enter the world of gig promotions. We were aiming to provide the sort of night out that would appeal to like-minded people – a decent pub, good beer, music, that sort of thing.

After much arduous searching we hit on the Rose Villa Tavern, on Warstone Lane in the Jewellery Quarter. It’s got a good atmosphere and there’s an upstairs room that’s ideal for the sort of events we want to put on. It’s away from the city centre but there’s good access to all forms of public transport (Metro and train are a two minute walk away, buses stop outside) and plenty of car parking nearby.

We’ve called the night Decent Exposure, because we want to provide a decent night out and at the same time give some exposure to original acts who might otherwise get overlooked. It starts this Friday, 11th October, with a band called Greenway, who came highly recommended and who l’ve seen recently. Admission’s £5 and doors open at eight. We think it’ll be a success, but we need your help so come along and find out for yourself.
