More additions to Great Birmingham Run

OGL Computer signs up over 30 runners to Team Cure Leukaemia.

More than 30 employees from OGL Computer are hoping to ruffle a few feathers when they join 400 Team Cure Leukaemia runners in the BUPA Great Birmingham Run on Sunday 20 October.

OGL Computer, a Worcestershire based IT support and solutions company, hopes to raise thousands of pounds for the charity which funds specialist nurses to administer potentially life-saving drug trials. OGL Computer runners are hoping they’re not left with egg on their face in their very own forfeit challenge for the team, as the person who secures the lowest fundraising total must wear a chicken suit for the duration of the BUPA Great Birmingham Run.

Runners from the 30+ strong team have a variety of abilities; including regular marathon runners as well as those who have never run a marathon before. The team is now training up to three times a week to build up its stamina.

Speaking of the challenge, OGL Computer team leader Paul Colwell said: “I’m looking forward to the half marathon not only to push myself to get fit, but also to raise money for a fantastic charity which makes such a difference to people’s lives. Our team includes experienced runners and complete beginners, so I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together.

“I came up with the idea of the chicken suit forfeit for a bit of fun and hopefully it will encourage a bit of competitive spirit between the team. I’m keeping the suit out of prying eyes before the day so it’s a big surprise for everyone!”

James McLaughlin, Cure Leukaemia CEO, said: “We’re delighted to have the backing of such a respected company like OGL Computer and we’re sure that their efforts will help us reach our fundraising target of £100,000.”

Team Cure Leukaemia are still on the lookout for more runners. Deadline for sign up to this year’s BUPA Great Birmingham Run is Monday 9th September. For more information or to sign up email [email protected] or call 0121 236 9202.
