Freshly-cut vegetables and salads will be for sale and Plant Heritage (the Garden Plant Conservation Charity) will be selling a selection of their plants.

Visitors are welcome to bring their own picnics, but there will be delicious home-made cakes, salads and sandwiches and other refreshments on sale in the Pavilion. The Gardens, though only two miles from Birmingham city centre are a green oasis that is teeming with wildlife. There’s plenty to enjoy, including woodland, glass houses, formal gardens, orchard, vegetable plots,  wildflower meadows and a ‘Shipwreck’ children’s play area.

Caroline Hutton, Director of Martineau Gardens said: “This event is all about having fun in the Garden – you’ll be able to see vegetables growing in situ, attend  a gardening workshop and eat some of the Gardens’ produce, all to the sounds of birdsong and live music. Hopefully we will inspire people to ‘see it, grow it and taste it’ at home too.”
