This inventive version of Alfred Hitchcock’s comedy spy thriller features four fearless actors, playing 139 roles in 100 minutes of fast-paced fun and thrilling action.

Harking back to a spiffing time when men wore moustaches and women swooned, The 39 Steps follows the incredible adventures of handsome hero Richard Hannay. Complete with stiff-upper-lip, British gung-ho and pencil moustache, he encounters dastardly murders, double-crossing secret agents, and, of course, devastatingly beautiful women.

The cast includes Tony Bell, who returns to the Belgrade after performing on the Main Stage with all male Shakespeare company Propeller in productions such as The Winter’s Tale, Henry V, Richard III and The Comedy of Errors.

The 39 Steps has played all over the world in countries including Australia, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Korea, Poland, Spain, South Africa, South America and Turkey. The production has also run on Broadway and toured North America.

The production has won many awards including an Olivier and a What’s On Stage Award for Best Comedy, two Tony Awards for Best Lighting and Best Sound Design, two Drama Desk Awards for Unique Theatrical Experience and Outstanding Lighting and the Molière award for Best Comedy.

Tickets for The 39 Steps are available now from the Belgrade’s Box Office on 024 7655 3055 priced from £15.75 to £30 or via www.belgrade.co.uk where cheaper tickets are available.
