Last week staff at The Donkey Sanctuary’s Donkey Assisted Therapy Centre in Birmingham received a cheque of £4,900 from Sainsbury’s Castle Vale store.

The Donkey Sanctuary’s centre in Birmingham provides Donkey Assisted Therapy to children with additional needs and have this year been adopted by the Castle Vale store as their chosen Charity of the Year.

Richard Young, manager of the Castle Vale store said: “The organisation wanted to donate to a charity that have a strong local presence in the area. The Donkey Sanctuary’s Donkey Assisted Therapy Centre in Birmingham was the ideal choice; we essentially wanted to give something back to the local area and this charity is doing such a splendid job for the local community through primary school and care home visits.”

Sue Brennan, centre manager for The Donkey Sanctuary’s Donkey Assisted Therapy Centre in Birmingham, said: “From everyone here at the centre we would like to thank Sainsbury’s in Castle Vale for their kind donation.  We provide Donkey Assisted Therapy to over 200 local children with additional needs from Birmingham and the surrounding area each week; vital services which are possible only through generous donations such as this.”

Through the organisation’s generous donations The Donkey Sanctuary’s Donkey Assisted Therapy centre is able to fund its Donkey Assisted Therapy sessions for children with additional needs, and outreach therapy services to residential homes and hospices.
