Specialists in trailer repair and maintenance services, Bullwell reports that turnover has increased by nearly £1 million, from £6.6 million (2011) to £7.5 million (2012) – a figure that Bullwell attributes to the company’s investment in new technologies and facilities, along with the increased services offered.

Gary Bulley, managing director at Bullwell Trailer Solutions says: “Since we acquired Bullwell in 2006 the company has gone from strength to strength. Today we maintain in excess of 5,000 trailers and look after a host of bluechip customers including DHL, TK Maxx and Royal Mail. Our main focus over the past seven years has been to bring quality to the trailer industry and we have done this by introducing bespoke vehicle diagnostic systems, keeping our vans updated to fit in with European emission standards, conducting regular health and safety checks, introducing more efficient services and operating frequent internal training courses.

“Operating a mobile service means we have engineers located across the length and breadth of the country meaning one of our engineers is never more than an hour away from any of our clients. We have also kept up with local servicing demand at our Lichfield headquarters by introducing an on-site authorised testing facility (ATF) which means our customers can complete their pre-test inspections and final test at the same location, reducing the risk of faults and inconsistencies occurring between tests.”

Bullwell installed its ATF 18 months ago and has since tested 2000 trailers, horse boxes, caravans and public service vehicles, achieving an average first time pass rate of 97 per cent – much higher than the national average.

Bullwell’s mobile network of 60 engineers extends across the UK reaching from Exeter to Glasgow. There are also plans for the company to expand into Ireland. The company has also announced a recruitment drive for 12 mobile engineers located in Milton Keynes, Luton and the Midlands, ensuring the company can continue to fulfil growing demand.

The company, which employs nearly 100 people, is now looking forward to the next 12 months and predicts further growth in 2013 – with a projected turnover in excess of £8.5 million by the year end.
