Gordon Harley’s thought for the weekend

In the week that saw British Airways lose a case over someone wishing to wear a crucifix at work, Gordon Harley takes issue with external emblems of belief.

crucifixI can’t help but notice all the noise in the press recently about the wearing of particular pieces of metal or material to denote or to demonstrate one’s beliefs.

And I can’t help but think that we would all be better off if the same energy went into actions that demonstrated what our beliefs meant.

I don’t really care about what you believe in; providing your beliefs place great emphasis on love , tolerance and kindness – surely the things that all our gods want to see.
