The 13-14 year olds put on their aprons and baked delicious white bread in attractive shapes as if they were seasoned bakers.

They made full use of the facilities within the independent school’s fully equipped Food Technology Department as they focused on the practical aspects of making bread including the volume production of their designs.

Bread making has been launched as part of a new Year 9 course in Food Technology, a subject the School is also introducing at GCSE level next year.

Phil Higley, Head of Design and Technology, said: “The students really enjoyed making bread, which they took home for their parents to taste – although the wonderful smell of freshly baked loaves was too much for some who chose to share the results of their efforts with their classmates.”

Solihull School is hosting an Open Morning on Saturday, January 26 from 10am to noon. The Admissions Secretary can be contacted on 0121 705 4273 (email: [email protected])
