Ghoulish goings-on at the Garrick

Lichfield Players open their new season shortly with Tiptoe Through The Tombstones, a spoof thriller by Norman Robbins.

Lichfield Players' first production of the 2012-13 season, Tiptoe Through The Tombstones

Sam Crawford as Vernon produces the evidence while the rest of the cast look on.

Most of the Tomb family have met mysterious deaths before the play begins, and the few remaining family members have gathered at their decaying Gothic mansion, Monument House, to discuss the future of the family business – murder! But the meeting doesn’t go at all according to plan, and very soon the body count starts to increase. Add to the mixture a cleaner with a highly individual style of working, a confused maid and a clown – don’t ask – and the scene is set for some very funny business. To coin a phrase, you could die laughing!

A highly skilled cast of Players performers will be bringing the show to life, while one of the society’s most experienced actors, Ian Davies, is making his debut as a director.

Tiptoe Through The Tombstones is in the main house at the Lichfield Garrick from Wednesday 12 to Saturday 15 September, and tickets price £12 (concessions available) are on sale at the Garrick box office on 01543 412121 or via www.lichfieldgarrick.com

Lichfield Players have also announced the plays for the rest of their 2011-12 season.

Shakespeare’s Richard III takes to the stage in the Garrick Studio from 23 to 27 October – this modern-dress production follows the company’s very successful studio version of Henry V in 2008.

The company returns to the main theatre in January for Bedroom Farce by favourite playwright Alan Ayckbourn; Edge of Darkness by Brian Clemens, a chilling mystery set at the turn of the last century, is in the Studio in March; and the season ends in May, also in the Studio, with My Boy Jack, the moving story of the author Rudyard Kipling and his son John whom he sent off to fight in the First World War, written by the distinguished actor David Haig.

The Players promise something for everyone in their new season and look forward to welcoming audience members old and new.
