Coming up at The Kitchen Garden

Kitchen Garden CafeThis Sunday’s (3rd June) Maccabees show has sold out. Just one final reminder for everybody that this is the Birmingham Maccabees and NOT the Brighton based band who are all over the charts at the moment.

On the following Sunday (10th) Jane Taylor returns with a one-off special show with the JT Band to celebrate some new songs. ‘A very, very talented artist ‘(Bob Harris BBC Radio 2). ‘Classic, timeless songwriting…A quintessentially English gem’ (Time Out), ‘Truly beautiful music’ (Johnnie Walker). If you haven’t seen her before she is worth checking out. www.janetaylor.co.uk/

If Jane Taylor is not for you, then the following evening (Mon 11th) Fans of Jaques Brel are sure to enjoy Dead Belgian. The Word says it best “Alternating between French and English, singer Fionnuala Dorrity sings the songs as Brel did – coquettish during ‘Madeleine’, passionate in ‘Ne Me Quitte Pas’ and tortured in ‘Au Suivant’. Highlight of the set though was the concluding ‘Le Moribond’, a rousing and upbeat version which will cast out memories of Terry Jacks and Westlife forever.” www.deadbelgian.com

The following week sees Wreckless Eric and Amy Rigby on Sun 17th “…like golden honey poured over a battered old tube amp.” (Los Angeles Times); the amazing Steve Tilston on Mon 18th who is still blowing them all away after 40 years in the business; and Cara Luft on Tue 19th “the perfect blend of lightness and gutsy rock chick” (POPMATTERS). .

Aside from the list above we have also lined up The Hackensaw Boys, Steve Ajao, Tom Moriarty, Otis Gibbs, Mick Thomas, Adam Clayson, Maggie Boyle, Alasdair Roberts, Dean Friedman. and much more. The June, July and listings follow this mail.

Finally, check out our new Summer Lunch and Evening Menus in the Cafe and Restaurant and watch the space at No. 7 York Road (The former Cornerstones Cafe). Something very exciting happening there soon (in June).
