Time for Birmingham schools to get cycling

2012 is going to be an amazing year for cycling and schools in Birmingham can be a part of it.

This summer, British Cycling and Sky are inviting students and schools to get closer to British cycling heroes as they compete on the international stage.  It’s free to join and young people and their families are also invited to take part in Sky Ride 2012, a series of free community bike rides.

Shanaze Reade

BMX star Shanaze Reade is backing British Cycling's school competition 'Get Behind Your British Cyclists'.

Primary and secondary schools can show off their creativity to win some fantastic prizes, including the incredible chance to cycle with BMX Champion Shanaze Reade.  To enter the competition students simply create an inspirational message of support for British cycling stars, using the art medium of their choice – including photography and video for secondary schools.  A free multi-media resource kit is available for teachers so that all schools in Birmingham can take part.

Schools in Birmingham can also get on their bikes this summer with Sky Ride Local.  Sky Ride Local rides are free small group bike rides that explore the local area and are led by British Cycling trained leaders.  They are great for family outings and offer cool rewards for kids that complete one, two or three rides.

From the classroom to free local rides, everyone can get on board and get behind British cyclists in an amazing year for cycling.
