WOW – Women of the World Music Competition 2012

Equator’s WOW – Women of the World Music Competition 2012 is open for applications!

Women of the WorldEquator’s WOW – Women of the World Festival is inviting entries from young girls and women performers, singers, songwriters and instrumentalists for their WOW Music Competition.

Selected entries will have the opportunity to  perform live in front of a supporting audience on Sunday 18th March from 6pm at mac birmingham to link in with International Womens’ Month.

The competition is aimed at supporting and developing exciting and interesting new talented young girls and women performers and composers.

There will be 3 categories – under 14’s, under 18’s, and under 30’s.

Women Soloists, instrumentalists, singers, and music groups under the age of 30 years living in the Midlands  are invited to submit a music entry for this competition. Schools can also submit an entry of their groups or soloists. The entry must be one piece of music or a song of any genre not longer than 5 minutes on CD, DVD or MP3 format. All genres of music are welcome including world, folk, pop, classical, jazz and urban. Deadline for entries is 10th March 2012. 

The competition will be judged by a panel which will include highly experienced musicians. Finalists will be given further help, and support from professional musicians, and a Finalists’ concert will be held at mac birmingham in June 2012 – date tbc.  A good quality recording will also be produced of their performances.

WOW – Women of the World Competition is supported by mac birmingham and  Equator/ShivaNova.

Entries must include the following details: name of group/soloist, address and contact name, telephone and mobile number, email address, number of members, ages, genre and school, if the entry is from a school.
