This Week at the Robin

What’s on in Bilston this week?

On Tuesday there’s an open mic night hosted by Sam Draisey. Turn up, have a go and admission’s free.

If there was any justice in the world Wednesday’s  performer would be on a much bigger stage. Lisa Mills is a blues singer/guitarist of phenomenal talent who has performed with Big Brother & the Holding Company and worked alongside Robert Plant & Jeff Beck amongst others.  Tickets £10

You couldn’t have much more of a contrast than Thursday night’s attraction. The Anti-Nowhere League came along as punk was fizzling out and proceeded to be loud, obnoxious and surprisingly talented. Thirty years later, nobody has yet worked out whether they were serious or not. Tickets £10

Friday sees eighties white soul Scouse boys the Christians at the Robin. Once described as “The Temptations in ripped jeans,” they’ve a new album out soon and an appearance at this year’s Isle of Wight festival in the pipeline.  Tickets £15

On Saturday there’s a return for ex-Genesis guitar legend Steve Hackett. Backed by his full electric band, Steve will be playing material from his early days through to last year’s solo album Beyond the Shrouded Horizon. Tickets £18.50

Sunday sees a return to the Robin for prog rockers Pallas. Never the busiest recording artists, last year’s acclaimed XXV album was only their sixth studio work in 30 years and their first without singer Alan Reed since their debut the Sentinel in 1984. Tickets £12.50
