Following a hugely successful run in 2010, We Love You City returns to the B2 auditorium from 8 to 26 May to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the year Coventry City FC won the FA Cup Final.

A co-production between with the Coventry based Talking Birds theatre company, We Love You City sees eleven players take centre stage to recreate the events of that legendary match and tell the funny, edgy, moving, and sometimes farcical stories that were playing out in Coventry during those nail-biting 90 minutes – plus a bit of extra time.

Nick Walker, writer of We Love You City said: “The response first time around to We Love You City was overwhelming. There was singing, chanting and even some old school football rattles – and not just from the football fans! I’m hoping that the sense of optimism in the city, both during Olympic year, and with the anniversary of the match itself, will mean the experience in B2 in May will be even more emotional.”

In keeping with the sport theme the Belgrade recognises the arrival of the Olympic Games to the UK with its brand new production of Stars in the Morning Sky, which tells the story of a group of prostitutes who find themselves banned from the streets of Moscow during the 1980 Olympic Games. This new adaptation of Stars in the Morning Sky has been written by award-winning playwright Chris Hannan and will run in B2 from 17 Mar to 7 Apr.

The battle of the sexes and the role of women in the family are explored this season in the Belgrade’s productions of Nora, which is writer Ingmar Bergman’s spellbinding adaptation of Ibsen’s A Doll’s House and Strindberg’s The Father, which was written as a response to A Doll’s House.

Starting with an explosive power-struggle between a married couple, both plays move towards equally devastating but radically different outcomes. Nora will run in B2 from 28 Jan to 18 Feb followed by The Father on the Main Stage from 31 Mar to 14 Apr.
