Design award for successful Longbridge company

A design team, based in Longbridge, wins European electronics industry accolade at the Elektra Awards 2011

ByteSnap Design picks up Design Team of the Year at the 2011 Elektra AwardsByteSnap Design Ltd,  a specialist in innovative embedded hardware and software design, has been named Design Team of the Year at the Elektra European Electronics Industry Awards 2011.

The Elektra Awards recognise excellence in innovation and commercial success within the European electronics industry.

Richard Wilson, Editor of Electronics Weekly, said: “The Elektra judging panel were impressed by the fact that the design team at ByteSnap Design has expertise spanning the whole embedded systems stack. From DSPs to device drivers and applications software the team can deliver projects with in-house resource rather than sub-contracting elements of the design.”

ByteSnap was awarded the Design Team of the Year accolade at an awards dinner on 14th December, at Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge in London. ByteSnap Design impressed the judges through its commercial success and innovation in projects as diverse as Smart Energy meters, electric vehicle charging posts, video processing and applications for iPhone and Windows Mobile.

Dunstan Power, Director at ByteSnap Design, who recently spoke at the Green IT Expo in November, commented: “Winning the Elektra Awards’ Design Team of the Year title is a great honour: our client base and team have grown in 2011, and we are all delighted to be recognised by our peers for our innovative work.”

Earlier this year ByteSnap Design was also recognised as one of the leading engineering consultancies in the UK, reaching the finals of the prestigious British Engineering Excellence Awards. ByteSnap Design is one of only a few companies in the UK with an electronics design team boasting expertise that spans hardware and software, from circuit design to device drivers and applications software.

Co-director Graeme Wintle sees this expertise – across both hardware and software – as key to ByteSnap’s success: “Having the skills to look at both the hardware and software aspects of a project in-house helps us to innovate in ways that many of our competitors cannot.”

ByteSnap Design’s success shows that despite the often gloomy business news about the Midlands, good businesses are succeeding and expanding; over the last twelve months, ByteSnap Design’s client base has grown, with profit and turnover up by 270% and 80% respectively.
