Birmingham’s Eastside became a melting pot of creativity earlier this month with the much anticipated launch of the city’s newest multi-purpose music studios, education and training venue; Heath Mill Studios.

Located in Digbeth, the launch was a celebration of education, young talent and culture. Digbeth has become known as Birmingham’s vibrant and varied cultural sector, and Heath Mill Studios is set to become the heart of the music and creative industries for the West Midlands.

The launch provided local industry and council representatives, creative entrepreneurs and other key figures from the city with an insight into what the studios offer and exactly how the many facets of Heath Mill Studios can benefit local communities, as well as individual students and musicians.

Students provided guests with tours of the brand-new premises; visiting the two state-of-the-art recording studios, eighty-capacity performance space and six rehearsal rooms, before enjoying informative speeches from, Adrian Armstrong from Armstrong Learning and Heath Mill Studios Centre Director Graeme Howell.

When asked about Heath Mill Studios being part of Digbeth’s creative community Howell said “The range of different events happening this evening highlights one of the main reasons we chose Digbeth as the location for our new facility. Over the next few months we want to begin to develop our offer as part of this rich tapestry of culture and become a key facility not only for our own ambitions but in support of other creative ideas.”

The evening was informal yet highly entertaining thanks to the remarkable live performances and DJ sets from some of the centre’s students. The strong caliber of talent and contributions from the students was a true reflection of the unique and productive learning environment that Heath Mill Studios has to offer.
