Moseley Folk Festival Line-up Announced

Taking place in Birmingham’s Moseley Park on 2nd– 4th September, and now in its sixth year, the 2011 Moseley Folk Festival will welcome a host of artists from all over the world.

Topping the bill will be Malian desert rebel troupe Tinariwen top the bill. The Saharan blues band will be debuting their new album as well as making their first appearance at the festival as Saturday night headliners. They are preceded by The Bees, travelling troubadour Willy Mason and Gothenburg’s José González, returning to the festival as part of the atmospheric folk outfit Junip.

Other acts for Saturday include Michael Chapman, Luke Concannon (Nizlopi), Ruth Theodore, Oh Ruin, The Staves, Kidnap Alice and local acts Pram, The Toy Hearts, Bonfire Radicals and Ben Calvert & The Swifts.

Headlining on Friday 2nd September will be Badly Drawn Boy. A decade since the release of his Mercury-winning, seminal debut ‘The Hour of the Bewilderbeast’ and with a vast back catalogue to choose from, it will be a memorable start to the festival weekend.

Friday will also see Super Furry Animals frontman Gruff Rhys playing the park, as well as Mercury-nominated Villagers. Other acts include Basque folk Neo-rave five-piece Crystal Fighters playing an acoustic set , 9Bach, Vijay Kishore, Boat To Row, Malpas, The Mariners Children, Dreaming Spires and Rebecca Hollweg.

Headlining on Sunday 4th September will be the incomparable Billy Bragg.

Other acts for Sunday include Oxfordshire indie folk quartet Stornoway, Eliza Carthy Band, Scott Matthews, Jim Moray, Old School Dance, Sam Lee, Bellevue Rendezvue, Calan, Carrivick Sisters, Cut A Shine, David Campbell, Skinny Lister, Fian and Elfynn.
